WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUCE THE OPENING OF
THE LAND OF VIRTUOSITY - THE NEWEST,  ALWAYS FAMILY APPROPRIATE, NONPROFIT 501(c)(3), PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY,  LIVE THEATRE,  FILM STUDIO AND COMMUNITY CENTER IN SAN ANTONIO!

May 3rd, 2010
– San Antonio, Texas - The Land Of Virtuosity located at 6712 N. New Braunfels, moments from the well known Alamo Quarry Market is Open and enrolling students ages 4 to 21 in group classes and private lessons - Beginner to Advanced Levels – in EVERY GENRE OF PERFORMING ARTS.

The Land Of Virtuosity or LOV is the brainchild of 25 year veteran professional performer, writer, director, producer Laralee List Wahrmund.  Laralee returned to her hometown San Antonio after 10 years in Los Angeles and immediately began to consider a new concept in performing arts training for young people in our community.  She visualized a place where children, teens and young adults might gain an exemplary education in ALL of the performing arts under one roof; a haven for students wishing to gather the training they would need to confidently audition and be cast in roles at a professional level in film and television series like those on the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon.

The LOV encourages and inspires young people to pursue excellence in their day to day life, not because someone else is asking this of them, but because they “want” this for themselves.  Each of our programs are specifically designed with “the family” in mind to promote togetherness outside the home, create a new and welcoming environment to inspire and motivate young people through the joy of viewing and participating in the Magic of ALL of the Performing Arts.

The Performing Arts Academy - is inspired by the multi-talented training of the Contract Players during the Golden Age of Hollywood and seeks to educate talented young people as professional performing artists then give them the opportunity for Professional On-Stage and On-Camera Experience.  In the event these students should choose to pursue their career in the Entertainment Industry, they will leave the Academy with complete References, Resume, Portfolio and Reel; Educated, Experienced, Prepared and Confident that they have learned the attributes necessary to audition in any academic or professional realm.
  • We will seek and find the best instructor available for lessons on ANY musical instrument that your child wishes to learn.
  • We will never have more than 8 students maximum per group class.
  • We will begin any group class with 4 students.
  • We offer classes after school AND during the day for home school students.
  • Our instructors are always encouraging and positive, never negative.
  • We offer classes in theatre and motion picture technical instruction as well as performance.
  • We offer classes in round table writing and these classes will write our Summer Musicals beginning with the Summer of 2011.
LOV Live Theatre – currently performs its productions in auditoriums on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word and produces original adaptations of Children’s Classics, Cultural Folk Tales and Historical
productions for school children in the mornings AND Classic Broadway Musicals, Comedies, Shakespearian, Melodrama style and other family appropriate productions in the evenings.

Our Folktale Series will begin in the Fall when school begins -
  • Our 2010/2011 season will produce 6 of the most beloved folktales revealed to us by those associated with the Institute of Texan Cultures.  By asking these cultural groups to share their favorite folktale we will create a 45 minute theatrical production revealing the history, geography, costumes, music and culture of that land to the students who attend each Folktale performance.
  • These students will return to their schools with a comprehensive knowledge of that country and won’t even be aware they have just had a geography lesson.

The LOV Motion Picture Studio is driven to Promote Local Film Production and contribute to the Mainstream Motion Picture Industry, by utilizing Artists and Technical Staff from San Antonio and Surrounding Areas. The Land Of Virtuosity is dedicated to Produce Professional in house, all original, Cultural, Educational and Historic Entertainment, appropriate for and enjoyed by the entire family. Here are just a few examples of productions in the works –
  • Molly the Marvelous and Meranda the Magical – the first Women’s History Series EVER - a wonderful Nanny and her Magical Charge take adventures through time to meet and learn about all the influential Women in History.  Our goal with this project is to promote more realistic role models for young girls and introduce them to women who have helped to mold our planet with their determination, drive and nurturing influences. This series will be shot at LOV and on location in San Antonio.
  • Cartwheels and Composers – a direct to DVD series dedicated to introducing famous composers to school age children in the form of their peers.  As we journey through this series we take a look at composers in their youth.  By presenting these composers as children to the students, they realize “anything” is attainable.  The viewers see that if the children in our episides could grow up to be such incredible composers they too might also reach for greatness.
  • Si San Antonio – is a tourist driven production created similar to the tourist productions currently shown in Orlando Florida, Las Vegas and other major cities with a huge tourist industry.  Hosted by the well loved Sonny Melendrez, join him as he tours with you around San Antonio and the surrounding areas to see all the sites and history in our beloved city.

A Community Venue the LOV makes its facilities available for the benefit of other nonprofit organizations.  Some already utilizing this venue are the German American Cultural Association, The Alamo Mission Chapter Children of the Republic of Texas,  The Children of the American Revolution - San Antonio de Bexar Chapter, The San Antonio Irish Dancers, Touché' at Trinity University, and the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra.

I welcome the opportunity to provide more information about the LOV or to schedule an interview with you.  We would TRULY APPRECIATE the opportunity to schedule our cast members on your radio or television show.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience.  I look forward to speaking with you.

I thank you in advance for helping us get the word out to our community about this new, unique, family inspired performing arts organization and community center.

Most Sincerely,

Laralee :o )
